A New Study into the Archaeological Artefact and the Bible Account

The Moabite Stone, also known as the Mesha Stele, is undisputedly the most valuable artefact ever to be discovered in the Middle East. It is also one of the most ancient dating from the Iron Age at around 840 BC and it contains what is the longest inscription yet known to exist written in the Moabite language.

Part of the text is parallel to a passage in the Bible and confirms the accuracy of the events recorded on both artefacts, although the accounts are written from different perspectives. This is surely a positive thing as it enables us to see both sides of the story.

It is a typical example of the time of how, in order to gain the support of their subjects, monarchs would assert that their achievements were instructed and directed by their deities and that any subsequent victories were ultimately for the glory of these false gods.

What is probably the most significant benefit of the discovery for Christians, and this is the objective of this current volume, is that although it is a pagan document, it affirms the accuracy of Holy Scripture when the Bible comes to recording historical events.
