T C IVENS
PIONEER ENGLISH RESERVOIR FLY FISHERMAN (1921-1988)
T C IVENS' RIVER FLY PATTERNS
Tom Ivens also used his reservoir flies for tackling river trout, sea trout and salmon as well as designing a series of patterns that were specifically intended for rivers.

The most successful patterns from his reservoir series were:

-
Black & Peacock Spider (this was sometimes tied with the incorporation of an oval silver tinsel rib)
-
Green Nymph (Reservoir Version)
The new flies were as follows:

-
Ivens’ Pheasant Tail
-
March Brown
-
Partridge & Orange
-
Olive Yellow Nymph
-
Green Nymph (River Version)

Illustrations of these flies together with the dressing menus and fishing information appear in The Fly Fishing Legacy of T C Ivens. written by Adrian V W Freer (Welford Court Press).

The book is published and available now.
