BIBLE STUDY

We conduct our weekly Bible Study on the 2nd, 3rd, 4th and 5th (if there is one) Monday of each week (apart from Bank Holidays). They are held in various homes starting at 8.00pm (the first Monday of each month is reserved for our Parish Prayer Meeting).

They are led alternately by Martin, David, James, Mike and Adrian.

We adopt a systematic approach where we study a book, a Bible character or an event recorded in Scripture. We follow the pattern of alternating between Old and New Testament passages to get a balanced view of Scripture.

The format is that we begin with a short prayer for the Holy Spirit's help as we study God's Word and then move on to going through the passage verse by verse to understand what it means and the application derived from it. We usually manage to cover each chapter in one or two evenings. Each study generally lasts around one hour and finishes at 9.00pm.

We conclude our time together with light refreshments and an informal time of fellowship.

In recent times we have studied the following books/subjects:

OLD TESTAMENT:

The life of Noah

Joseph in Egypt

The times of the Judges

Ruth

King Solomon

The ministry of Elisha

King Josiah

The events recorded in Esther

Amos

NEW TESTAMENT:

Mark's gospel

John's gospel

Acts of the Apostles

Paul's epistle to the Galatians

Peter's letters

John's three epistles

Jude

Do join us if you are able for what is generally a profitable time - you will be most welcome.

These were more noble than those in Thessalonica, in that they received the word with all readiness of mind, and searched the scriptures daily, whether those things were so.
